The most important step you can take for good health and well-being starts off with what you put on your plate. You must have heard of the infamous phrase, you are what you eat… well, it’s true. You wouldn’t put diesel into a petrol car, so why fuel your body with the wrong type of foods?
Everything we eat affects every single cell in our bodies, and although we may not visibly see the changes, it can slowly cause long-term damage in the future.
Eating healthy foods and engaging in regular exercise will do wonders for your body mind and soul!
Although there is no official scientific definition of the term superfood, it is generally foods that contain high levels of vitamins and minerals that are much needed in our bodies.
So we’ve rounded up five best superfood hero’s that can unleash the power of a healthy diet!
Almonds make it to the top of the list, not only because this list is alphabetically listed… but also because almonds contain the richest source of calcium out of all the nuts.
Almonds are a good source of potassium; vitamin E, iron and can also assist in stabilising blood sugar levels – Ideal for someone with diabetics.
Avocados are the most nutrient-dense foods, high in fibre, potassium, vitamin E and magnesium.
They also claim to contain monounsaturated (good) fats, which is beneficial for lowering cholesterol levels.
Avocados are great versatile fruits! Enjoy diced into a salad, spread on a sandwich or why not go for a fruity avocado smoothie.
Beetroot is a good source of iron and folate, whilst also containing other antioxidants that are good for reducing the risk of obesity.
It’s also very good for the health of your heart, as the rich nitrates convert into nitric oxide. This allows your muscles to relax and your arteries to dilate, which ultimately helps to bring your blood pressure down.
Other than being a popular veggie in smoothies, Kale also has a high antioxidant level. This neutralises those bad free radicals that cause cellular damage in your body.
Kale is also rich in other minerals such as copper, calcium, iron and manganese.
As your body cannot naturally produce omega-3 fatty acids, it is important that you obtain them from foods.
Salmon contains a healthy dosage of omega-3 fatty acids and protein that helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Of course, there are many other superfoods out there to try, so do your research and find out which foods are best for you!

I signed up with diets2go 12 weeks ago and cannot praise them enough. The food is amazing, really varied and tasty and has taken the guess work out of trying to eat healthily. The meals are always delivered when expected and even taste great cold which is good for long work days as I can eat them out and about. I get friendly reminders if I haven’t placed my order in time and they listen to likes and dislikes. Happy all round.Jane Collier
I’ve tried so many diets and always found it difficult to know what I should be eating. The guys at Diets 2 Go have been fantastic. I spoke with Jordan initially and with his help, planned out what I need and ordered 4 weeks worth of food. So happy – I’ve lost 1.5 stones in 9 weeks and I absolutely love the meals!
